When Doctrine Misses the Mark: The Narrow Path Recovered - Part 7
Walking in Spirit and Truth Without Falling into Either Ditch
The Narrow Path Recovered: Part 7
Walking in Spirit and Truth Without Falling into Either Ditch
The Way Is Narrow — But It Leads to Life
Yeshua never said it would be easy.
He said it would be narrow.
“Enter by the narrow gate... For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction... But the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
— Matthew 7:13–14
Today, most doctrine lives in a ditch:
One side says obedience doesn’t matter — just believe and you’re good.
The other side piles on rules Yah never gave and calls it righteousness.
But the Way is neither of those.
It’s not license. It’s not legalism.
It’s covenant — empowered by grace, guided by Torah, and led by the Spirit.
The narrow path isn’t a balance between extremes.
It’s a return to the King’s path.
What the Scriptures Say
“The one who says, ‘I know Him,’ but does not keep His commandments is a liar...”
— 1 John 2:4“The Spirit of truth... will guide you into all truth.”
— John 16:13“Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
— Galatians 5:16“Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”
— Luke 11:28“This is the way; walk in it.”
— Isaiah 30:21
⚖️ The Ditches We Must Avoid
Ditch 1: Lawlessness
Dismisses the Torah as irrelevant
Treats obedience as optional
Confuses grace with permission
Believes salvation ends at belief
Result:
A shallow, powerless faith that conforms to the world and calls it freedom.
Ditch 2: Legalism
Adds burdens Yah never gave
Replaces relationship with regulation
Measures righteousness by outward appearance
Trusts in Torah without trusting in the Messiah
Result:
A joyless faith that keeps score instead of keeping covenant.
🕊️ The Narrow Path Is Covenant Life
Yeshua taught a third way — The Way.
He obeyed Torah, not to gain favor, but to fulfill it.
He called sinners to repentance, not just acceptance.
He taught truth, then sent His Spirit to help us live it.
The narrow path is this:
Grace that empowers obedience
Truth that doesn’t burden
Spirit that guides without confusion
Love that fulfills the Law
A King who walks with us
Three Practical Applications
Start Where Yeshua Starts
His first words: “Repent, for the Kingdom is near.”
Repentance is the entrance to the narrow path — not just sorrow, but turning toward covenant.
Walk with the Spirit Daily
Don’t just study doctrine — listen for direction.
Let the Ruach write the Torah on your heart.
(Ezekiel 36:27)
Test Every Teaching by the Way
If it removes obedience, it’s not truth.
If it removes grace, it’s not truth.
The Way of Yeshua holds them together — in Him.
